Giant Hail smashes Sydney on 18th February
On Saturday 18th February a super storm unleashed it’s fury on Sydney, dropping hail the size of tennis balls, causing destruction from Wollongong to Gosford.
Giant hailstones measuring up to 8cm were reported in Sydney’s northwest from 4pm. Some of the suburbs most effected by the hail included Hornsby, Normanhurst, Mona Vale, Rouse Hill, Kellyville, Castle Hill, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Newcastle City, Maitland, Raymond Terrace and Belmont.
Thousands of cars have been damaged by this storm and due to the high volume of Insurance claims, Aussie Hail has set up repair and assessment facilities in Sydney. These locations are: 46 Carrington Road, Castle Hill and 159 Lower Gibbes St Chatswood (Cnr Gibbes and Smith Streets, Chatswood).
